Mind The Gap

Sometimes - oftentimes - there’s a gap between the business you want and the business you can currently run. Lots of factors impact this - finances, quality of the team, bandwidth, number of clients. There’s work to get to the next step.

We’ve all got to be careful that we don’t focus so much on achieving that step that we aren’t realistic about what’s available to us now. I know you want to be a hands off CEO, but right now, you gotta do the work. You might be the coordinator, staff, senior, manager, and/or director right now, and you can't let your ego make you think you're too big for us. When you're a small business, that attitude can be detrimental to the success and sustainability of the company - what needs to be done must be done, even if you're the only want to do it.

I’ve had to remind myself of that many times over the past year. There are things I want to do and offer and provide, but this intentional slowdown is me making the foundation strong enough to support those changes. Otherwise everybody loses. And I want to win. I moved too fast on trying to achieve some specific dreams so I’m taking some time to build the foundations first. I thought it would be disappointing to fall back, but it’s actually exhilarating.

Feels like when I first started. 🖤
